Lead Software Developer / Master Software Engineer at Hitachi Insight Group (March 2017 – October 2017)
As a Lead Software Developer and Master Software Engineer at Hitachi Insight Group, I led the development of a new product in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) space. My primary focus was on IIoT integration for Hitachi Rail Europe bullet trains, collecting data from moving trains and offloading it to groundside systems for visualization, cloud processing, and data science applications.
Key Projects:
Lumada Edge MVP:
- Designed and implemented an MVP for the Lumada Edge product applicable to rail, delivered in September 2017.
- Utilized Java, Python, DropWizard, Spring Boot, RabbitMQ, Docker, Ansible, and Vagrant.
- Solution installed on edge gateways primarily running Linux (CentOS 7).
Train Realtime Data Protocol (TRDP):
- Developed an early version of TRDP in Java 8, using UDP for rail communications.
Lumada Core and Studio:
- Contributed to Lumada Core, a cloud IoT solution built on Mesosphere with Spring Boot and Angular.
- Contributed to Lumada Studio, a Python Flask visualization application.
Team Building and Client Engagement:
- Bootstrapped a new team for Insight Group in Colorado.
- Fostered strong relationships with teams in Bellevue, Santa Clara, and Waltham.
- Met with Hitachi Consulting and Hitachi Rail Europe in the UK to gather requirements and build relationships.
Key Achievements:
- Delivered an MVP Lumada Edge product from scratch with a new team.
- Developed IIoT integration for Hitachi Rail Europe bullet trains, enhancing data collection and processing capabilities.
